EMT

EMT Madrid (“Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid S.A.”) is a public company created in 1947, and 100% owned by Madrid City Council. It manages the bus transport service in the municipality of Madrid, being the only bus operator of the City, and the largest company in Spain in its sector, both among private and public ones. EMT Madrid also manages the underground parking facilities of the city, as well as the tow trucks system.

Nowadays, EMT employs nearly 8,500 workers, and 1,903 buses are available to travel in 203 routes across Madrid. Yearly, the EMT’s buses are travelling more than 90 million kilometers and carrying 404 million passengers, 365 days a year, and 24 hours a day.

The company is at the forefront of ITS and ICT use, and iKaaS project fits perfectly with our recent developments in the field of internet of things, cloud computing, and our open data policy.
